Comments About Essays

My Comments

1. Don't use words like "good", "bad" or "things". Use your vocabulary! You have learned a lot! The choice of words you use can show off your English skills. A third grade student can use good or bad. What can you use? Try other synonyms! Be specific when you use the word "things". What are you talking about?

2. Do not use conjunctions to begin your sentences. Use them to connect your sentences together.

3. Spelling is not extremely important. However, when the spelling changes the meaning of what you want to say, do you think it is important?

This is NOT an ANGEL!






Does the make sense? This can change your essay. Do you want an essay talking about an angel or an angle?

4. Do not spell the words in the topic incorrect. This shows the teacher you are not really paying attention carefully to what you are writing!

5. You don't need to use "I think" because I know it is you who are thinking in the essay.

Tough Love

Dear All,

I apologize if I am keeping you after school to finish your homework. It's only because I care.

Sometimes I wonder whether my students know the reason why I do the things I do. My heart is a little bit heavy today. Well, maybe not a little. I don't know how to explain. As a teacher, when I see students who don't be the best they can be, I am sad.

Today when students didn't do their homework and I had to tell them to stay after school, I felt heartbroken. I really don't want to keep you after school. Really. I have many things to do. I just want you to know the importance of homework.

Reading is the fastest way to improve your English and grammar.

Please understand that I just want you to read. I just want you to try. I just want you to see how amazing you can be.

Reading all your reflections has made me reflect.

All I want is for you to learn.
Is that too much to ask?

All I want is for you to care.
Is that too much to ask?

All I want is for you to do your homework.
Is that too much to ask?

All I want is for you to know how important school is.
Is that too much to ask?

All I want is for you to be here.
Is that too much to ask?

All I want is for you to study.
Is that too much to ask?

All I want is for you to put away your cellular phone during class.
Is that too much to ask?

All I want is for you to do the lessons in class that I prepared for you.
Is that too much to ask?

All I want is to improve your English.
Is that really too much to ask?

All I want is for you to ask me questions when you don't understand.
Is that really and truly too much to ask?

All I want is for you to be the best that you can be, have a good future, go to a good school, take care of the people you care about, do the things you want to do in the future, have the ability to be intelligent, be independent, be a good citizen and just have the chance and choice to live the life you want to live.

Is that too much to ask?
If it is, I apologize because it is only because I care.
Afterall, who needs to graduate?
